Shivering. Its gonna get worse...

I'm typing this in 2 jackets... weather here is NOT bad, but the wind is the killer. When it blows, it blows hard, it blows so hard you might feel like it's taking you off your feet with it. I think the temperature outside is around 10 degrees celcius. Which makes the wind even more the murderer.

Things are still easy. But me thinks the subject that I'm taking isn't that hard at all. Well, besides chemistry 101. I hate thy stupid lab report. Its so stupid, I stayed up to 3 trying to finish it, which I did.... sort of. Yea but the fact that I'll have to endure lab reports weekly makes me wanna just drop chem. The facts arent hard : atoms, molecules, H20....but nobody here likes the reports. Suxx0r!

I miss msian food already. The solid rice, all those warm and spicy curry, big pieces of fried chicken, .. gah! All they have here are pasta, burgers, more pasta, and hey...more burgers. And salad..once you've taken alot of them, they'll remind you of refrigerated leaves from spring topped with thousand island.

Had Chillis yesterday though for a change. Its still much much better than food in the dining halls. I mean, Northwestern has 6 dining halls! And all 6 of them serve the same ugly thang. So creative rite.... Sigh

Sorry I haven't been calling you guys but its kinda hard to find time. Hehe. Anyway I'll try to call soon enough. No international calls though, too expensive. You'll have to call me instead if you wanna talk :)

Oh big news : I've got a cd-key. CHEEYONG JX PETER NICK HANMING YEONG ZAIN KENG etc etc WHERE ARE YOU!? I've got a friend here called JianWei and he's pretty good at dota. So we can have a match. He's been playing even before Allstars so you can imagine. Lets game ppl! Can't wait.

How are the rest of you doing? From first impressions Vanessa turned party girl, Joyce is turning into an adult, Sara socials more than anyone I've heard from, Ju is lonely haha...sorry, Nick is sporty, Hanming still Hanming, JX is workaholic, Peter is mom of 4, and Cheeyong...is just fencing. Cmon ppl tell me more!

Those who's wondering how Sinyi is doing, she's doing really fine. She'll get her laptop soon then she can come online. Later then, gotta go get lunch.

I'm alive! And kicking ass.

Sorry for the ultra late update ppl. Have been super duper bz. Cause life here rox :D

So far class has started, I'm taking all the basic stuff for engineering and also Chinese. So its not too bad. My chinese prof is one kick ass fellar, he's super funny. Maths is great too. Generally all of them are humorous except my Chem lecturer. So life in class is alright.

Note : I can't really find myself making friends in class because everyone is just listening, the class is just too big, and there is not a minute to rest from taking notes. Everything just move on so fast here. The only thing one could really do is sit next to a different person everyday and try the small talk thing, and maybe you'll strike gold and meet someone special. Besides that, I think the only way was orientation, which is the past now, or other activities after class. Hehe but friends are not a big thing now. I have a sufficient number of them anyway.

Have anyone told you evanston is gorgeous? No? You'll have to see for yourself then. I will post some pic once I found time to upload them, so chill.

Oh and I have a phone now. Feel free to call. After 9 of course if you are not cingular :P

I got it without deposit. When the salesgirl called the manager, the manager asked me if my dad is working here in the states. So I said no. But somehow she told the salesgirl to omit our deposits. Reason : unknown. Maybe I happen to have the same name as some celebrity here or a good friend or the manager or sumthing. The salesgirl was so shocked and she told me that in a year that she has been working here, she has never seen anything like that. OOO. I guess I was in luck :P

So anyway, gimme a call or sumthing and say who you are. I don't have your numbers remember.

Unlimited meal plan is too good. I can be in a rush and just swipe, walk in, grab a piece of pizza and leave. And then 1 hour later I would swipe again and have lunch like usual. Muhahahahah. Thank you JPA for paying. Appreciate it.

Hot as hell here in the morning, but weather is like genting at night. So its pretty cool. Damn cant wait for fall. It feels so much like malaysia here. In fact, I feel like im still in malaysia except that there are lots of guai lo's around and they've upgraded all the lecturers to guai lo's. Sigh.

Oh and dota, whatever happened to it? You guys still into it? I have a friend here who plays, his name is JianWei,...yea. Not the same one, He's a really nice guy. If we're still game I could come in for games and bring him along. It'll be like ol times eh? Cmon Harvard. CMU? :P

Another time then. Gotta run.

Greetings!

Hi ppl from over the world! I have finally arrived here. The place is OMG so wonderful. The campus is beautiful, the people amazing, and the spirit - very alive. This place is a given, and I'm thankful that I chose Northwestern above any other schools.

Well of course the first day was a little hard. Americans just tend to stick to one another in the beginning. But later on I got along pretty well with my roomie, and I met a few other Asians here which are nice too. We did things together and had lots of fun.

For the first few days it'll be pretty hectic, but I'll try to write more often.

I've already picked up this american accent. Now if you do speak to me in real life, please forgive it if I'm too heavily accented. I'm like, surrounded by all these folks man, so I tend to copy. On the side note, rooms here are great, toilets quite open, girls are pretty hot (a few hot asians too) and guys are just big. Food portions are enough to feed 4 malaysians, though my roomie says he could finish 1 by himself. Sports here is large, gym is nice, weather is cool like genting, lake is fantastic - the view is prettier than those beautiful postcards that ppl send to u.

Classes begin just next week, so I've more time to enjoy and meet new ppl for now. I guess I'll just chill. Will be getting a phone later so I can call the rest of you guys, but I'll prolly be using Cingular or Spring cause T-mobile sux here in Northwestern MUAhAHaHAHAH.

Anyway thats about it for now, I'm having fun and hope you are too. Will post some pictures of Chicago, Evanston and of my room when I take them later. Camera died and I can't charge the batteries cause the ports here are different. So anyway, till later. Take care peeps.

Perspectives

Countdown!

6 days to go. And I'm off to the states! Woohoo!

Zain told me he's tired of waiting. Well so am I actually, in a way. But in reality I'm really having the best time of my life here now, so I don't want to leave either. Sigh. It's time to leave all these behind after all. I really do hope this will last in the future. 6 days, thats all I've got. Every second counts.

Everyone had their classes started already. There's a different pattern of feedback from my friends about their lives in universities. First off, Carnegie Mellon! JX sounds like he's having such a smashing time over there. Makes me kinda regret not going there after all. I've always thought and heard that ppl there are geeky, ugly, fat...the weather is cold, evil, cold,... and the air there is polluted. Life there is stressed with work and ppl would have to work their asses off just to do well in class. Haha, turns out that JX reported differently though. Well dude not to scare u or anything, but this is just the beginning. Let's see how much is true :P. But I'm sure wherever u go its only what u make of it. I know u'll do well man.

Purdue = family. The 4 of you guys stick to each other like lovers, not to mention you stay so far away from everyone, if not everything else. But its great in a way too, everything feels so much like home. You got each other, ppl who truly cares, from the same place with same interests. Its pretty fun too :)

Michigan = stickier family. The way I see it, non of you guys are detaching from the group to mix around with the Americans. Well, all but one that is :P. But I bet you guys are planning to do so. CheeYong told me you guys are really good friends now, so its good to hear. Just don't stick in the kampung forever. Now I see why JPA is afraid of sending too many ppl to one university in the same batch.

Haven't really talked to the rest of you guys yet, only read about how you are in the blogs. Vanessa, Hooi Ju, HanMing, Yeong..do keep in touch.

All the best. 6 more days.....6 more days...
